So, I talked to Mr. David Poe about doing a sort of memorial tattoo for my dad since he passed. I sent him a ridiculous email with random things that made me think of dad and then realized that it was the most ridiculous list [you could call it a ridiculist] ever.
I started looking at pictures on google of memorial tattoos and for whatever reason then I started looking at flowers. I saw a Poppy and started reading the meaning behind the flower and realized that it would be the best way to pay tribute to my dad.

Poppies have long been used as a symbol of sleep, peace, and death: sleep because of the opium extracted from them, and death because of the common blood-red color of the red poppy in particular. In Greek and Roman myths, poppies were used as offerings to the dead. Poppies used as emblems on tombstones symbolize eternal sleep. A second interpretation of poppies in Classical mythology is that the bright scarlet colour signifies a promise of resurrection after death.

Everything about the various interpretations of the Poppies makes me think of dad, he’s at peace in his death but I know he is still here after his death. I think that getting them would be the most fitting tribute to him that I could ever do.

Getting my cameo touched up next weekend and having Mr. Poe sketch a few things for me for future tattoos!
